About Institution
The Assunta College of Nursing is registered as Tun Tan Cheng Lock College of Nursing, Assunta Hospital. The school of nursing was started by the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM) nuns back in 1961, in the hospital premises. From its humble beginnings, the school of nursing is now a full-fledged college which caters to the education and training of student nurses to become professional nurses. The first intake of student nurses in 1961 has now reached Group 77. That means the first group of student nurses are now in their 70s!
It is with pride that we are passing the light and lessons learnt from our Founding Sisters to our student nurses, in instilling the many positive attributes nurses should have. The caring and compassionate nature of our nurses is what set us apart and make a distinctive difference in nursing.
In the span of those years, the College has blossomed into a proper building with comprehensive teaching facilities, study rooms and recreational facilities. A separate building was added in 2000 to accommodate the high student numbers that were enrolling for the course. Private and Government Hospitals have sent students here for training. It is the trust and confidence given by them that has kept us going. The long history and years of experience has truly solidified our presence in the market. Many people have benchmarked against Assunta College of Nursing that continues to be the trusted training college for nurses.
Our graduates are enjoying successful careers locally and abroad, with some holding positions as Director of Nursing and General Manager in the healthcare industry.
