METrO Betong Sarawak Polytechnic (PMBS) started operations in November 2012 with a staff of 18 people. However, the temporary operation is based at the Kuching Polytechnic Campus, Sarawak, Jalan Matang until 19 February 2013. before moving to a permanent campus in Betong and has started the first intake of students in June 2013.PMBS is an educational and training institution to meet the local and regional socio-economic needs in certain fields, especially for the needs of the growing service industries, both at the small and medium industry (SMI) levels. ) as well as multi-national companies.

The establishment of METrO Betong Sarawak Polytechnic is in line with the country's transformation agenda, which is to increase competitiveness through the development of a high-income economy, especially in terms of generating versatile and transformative human capital in a dynamic work market environment. The target students are Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduates and working adults (working adults) who need upskill and re-skilling. Learning at METrO Betong Sarawak Polytechnic will prioritize Online Virtual and Distance Learning (OVDL) methods in the e-Learning framework. Most of the instructors are those with industry experience.
