Lahad Datu Community College is one of the Community Colleges available in Malaysia. Community College is a higher education system in Malaysia under the management of the Department of Community College Studies (JPKK), Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
On 5 July 2000, the Cabinet of Ministers considered memorandum No. 398/2225/00 which has been submitted by the Minister of Education on the concept of establishment and implementation of Community Colleges in each parliamentary constituency.
The college will be an institution that provides training and skills needs at all levels and provides educational opportunities to secondary graduates before entering the labor market or furthering their education to higher levels.
Community Colleges provide services to the surrounding community through the offer of full-time government-recognized courses and short courses. Qualified Community College graduates can continue their diploma level studies at Community Colleges, Polytechnics or other Institutes of Higher Learning.
