In June 2016, Widad Business Group Sdn Bhd (WBG) fully took over Shahputra University College. Under the new ownership and administration, this university college is called Widad University College (WUC). The word WIDAD is translated from Arabic meaning, love and friendship. It also symbolizes leadership and freedom.
Widad Business Group is a conglomerate of various business companies. It is a well-known corporate identity in Malaysia and is also listed on the Stock Exchange. WBG's business activities include the management of integrated immigration facilities, construction, property development, media, information technology, hospitality, health and communications. WUC offers 10 programs at the degree level, 18 programs at the diploma level, 2 basic programs as well as several programs at the Masters and Honorary Doctorate (PhD) levels. Almost all programs at WUC have received full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and from their respective professional bodies depending on the program conducted. For example, our Medical program (MBBS) has been fully accredited by MQA and the Malaysian Medical Council , our Medical program is also listed in the World Directory for Medical School. Similarly, programs such as Nursing and Medical Assistants (MA) , also get full accreditation from their respective professional bodies.
