Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Polytechnic (PSMZA) was inaugurated by Al-Wathiqu Billah Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah on Monday, July 24, 2006. Before that, this polytechnic was known as ?Terengganu Dungun Polytechnic?. PSMZA started operations since January 2001 at Dungun Technical Secondary School and then moved to its own campus from 08 October 2001. Its academic session began in December 2001 with a total of 293 students and by 2020 PSMZA had 3858 students. PSMZA also successfully produced 21,157 graduates (2003 - 2019).
PSMZA is located at the foot of Bukit Bauk, about 8 km from Dungun Town, 88 km from Kuala Terengganu and 125 km from Kuantan. PSMZA covers an area of ??100 acres, including the development of academic blocks, workshops & laboratories, lecture halls, lecture rooms, seminar rooms, TECC rooms, Thursday which can accommodate 1412 students, Resource Center, Islamic Center, sports complex, softball court, futsal court, cooperative, canteens, cafeterias and various other facilities. A total of 9 programs at the diploma level are offered at PSMZA and 1 Pre-Diploma in Science program. PSMZA has 4 main departments, namely the Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Information & Communication Technology and supported by 2 support departments, namely the Department of Mathematics, Science & Computer and the Department of General Studies. The total number of staff is 462 people which includes academic staff (314 people) and academic support (115 people).
